Slowbeef and Diabetus have a quick pow-wow as an excuse to show off an amazing new intro from cool fella SegaSky that pretty much upstages everything. The duo chats about Snatcher and Policenauts, lparchive.org, some retsucontroversy, and they tackle more of your Tweeter questions!
BEST. INTRO. EVER.
ReplyDeleteYESSSSSS JEFF LUPETIN RULES!
DeleteYES! Another Retsutalk! You guys are the besWHERE'S DAVEO
ReplyDeleteMy jaw dropped when I heard Gillian Seed, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how much of the audience I represent, but I did go back and watch a lot of the let's plays you guys have done. If you guys are going to do a Policenauts video, maybe you should just actually LP it.
Market it as a "Live Wrongpurae." No one will be the wiser.
How cool. Jeff Lupetin must be an awesome guy.
ReplyDeleteHot damn, that was a fantastic intro. I love the SNATCHER Let's Plays and have been eagerly anticipating the videos of Policenauts with you both so glad that's in the pipeline again.
ReplyDeleteGood job Diabetus, you like the scrub team. Roll tide, etc etc.
ReplyDeleteThe video they reference at 6:30:

Lupetin the Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiird
ReplyDeleteHey you guys should think about maybe doing a livestream some time. Maybe like Vinesauce or something.
ReplyDeleteHey guys, fantastic episode of Retsutalk as always. One small complaint though aimed at you, Diabetus.
ReplyDeleteSlowbeef was about to tackle a user question from a certain PixelSith64 when you accidentally went off on a tangent. When the question was never revisited or fixed in post, the bar I was at where we were all listening to this immediately after the terrible call in the Seahawks and Packers game, threw a fit, and a small riot started which I was able to squelch.
My questions are simple, is there anyway my question could be done next week? I would hate for a riot to break out over that football game.
PixelSith64
I seen the Longplays of Elvira and Elvira 2. They looked like fun, but hard as hell adventure games. I remember the pretty crazy death scenes in them.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, great podcast, as always!
I am slightly excited that I may have been noticed by Retsupurae lol. I made a comment on the "Better Call Saul" video about 6 minutes of Chief Jollo scolding Slendamen.
ReplyDeleteThese casts are hilarious :)
ReplyDeleteWhen you plug LPs etc you should put them in the description of your blogspot, since there's pretty much no chance I'm pulling out a pen and even less chance I'm going to remember.
Oh my god, I was not expecting that intro AT ALL. You guys rock!
ReplyDeleteoh lord, could you upload the Pressure of Tension remix used for that intro?
ReplyDeleteI can dowload the episode from this site, but it is not updated in Itunes. Anyone experiencing the same problem?
ReplyDeleteTotalbiscuit actually talked about that "Sexy Block Party" debacle in the TGS livestream podcast yesterday. Said he's been watching you guys for years before he even started posting videos on Youtube. He also said he was embarrassed about the whole thing. Mainly because his fans are retarded. I'll link the video with a timestamp on Friday when it's uploaded to Youtube.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are the best. I love this Podcast and can't wait for the new one!
ReplyDeleteHope you guys continue this for awhile to come!
I've listened to the intro to this one a bunch... I adore Snatcher and Jeff Lupetin is awesome.
Holy shit, congratulations on the intro slowbeef! It's flipping awesome!
ReplyDeleteAfter a hard day of work, I love coming home, getting a bite to eat, and listening to your guys' banter. It lightens up my day. Keep on being awesome guys!
Death Note was a tremendous anime and manga. I agree it had some flaws, and the story went into a sort of "Lost" direction (no pun intended) in that after the midway point they sort of forgot where they were.
ReplyDeleteBut you should watch the anime if you've read the manga. It's every bit as good as the manga and it backs it up with a tremendously epic soundtrack.
Light's defeat wasn't pathetic enough in the anime, seemed like the animators were the kind of dudes who rooted for Light and wanted to have him outwit N and only be taken down by Ryuk instead of crying in a pool of his own blood like he deserved
Delete[Spoiler alert!]
DeleteReally? I'd hesitate to say he outwitted N.
My impression of the ending in the anime was that, by the time his plan was foiled and he'd admitted everything, Light was basically grasping at straws for any other reason to prove his innocence. Hence, the "are the notes real or FAKE?" line.
It sucks he died fighting N instead of L. Once the L/Light plot was over, it became a little like "what now?" The best parts of the series came from Light and L outsmarting one another.
If you haven't, try watching the film "Death Note: Relight," which is a re-telling of the series through the Light/L conflict. It remakes certain scenes including the ending; and I wasn't a huuuuge fan of either ending on its own, but the one in the film version makes it seem more in line with the Faustian legend the series seemed to mimic.
And yes, I'm aware of how incredibly loser-nerdy that last sentence sounds. I don't care. :)
I just want to say "thank you" to Slowbeef. Thanks to him going on and on about the Dangan Ronpa LP I started reading it for free. I got so enthralled and interested in the story. Once Something Awful stopped letting me do that I bought an account.
ReplyDeleteI like DBZ.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm interested in hearing slowbeef's ideas on Cowboy Bebop, which is one of the other anime series he liked. I loved the anime while it lasted, but the end was crap. I get that Spike is a crucial main character, and his whole Julia/Vicious storylines were important to his character, but ... the story just ends with him. We didn't just follow HIM around for 26 episodes only to have our ending focus on him! They hinted at a big dramatic ending for everyone when they started splitting the group up with Ed and Ein's departures, but then we get nothing from Faye or Jet? I enjoyed Jet's story episodes better than Spike's, and yet I don't get to see how his role in the story concludes? Same with Faye, who frankly had one of the most interesting backstories ever. Episode 18 is one of her best episodes, and frankly the biggest tear-jerker of the whole series. We get nothing? How are these characters not important to the conclusion of the series?
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna assume they read these comments and haven't already researched it themselves. This is from memory so some it may be wrong.
ReplyDeleteThe BS-X was an addon for the SNES/SFC that had a data connection to a satellite receiver box. In the SNES cartridge slot is a cartridge that holds a sort of BIOS/OS for the BS-X. In the cartridge is a slot that hold another smaller cart that has memory for storage.
The satellite box connects to the dish and has channel(s), like a normal satellite receiver. It had a schedule, like any other channel(s). At certain times(on certain channels), there is no video data, but rather, data...data. In order to receive the data you switch a switch on the box and have the BS-X cartridge loaded. And the data is transmitted and magic happens and the data is stored on the data cartridge. I do not know about the NES Zelda BS Zeldas, but the Link to the Past BS game was spanned across 4 weeks, with one session per week. During the play session they has live actors doing voice work throughout the game. Things like the opening dialogue and a scene where Zelda is attacked by some enemies were voice acted and broadcast live. If you missed a week, you just didn't get the items from that week. You can still play the game the next week.
I think just about every modern "retro remake" game is made by people who have played the games they're remaking for 20+ years so they're all a good bit harder than the actual retro games, like Mega Man 10 being a good bit harder than the others.
