2: The Breaking Bad of Episodes
We experience a sophomore slump in podcasting as we hopelessly try to find interesting things to dish on in episode 2. It's a free-for-all of random topics as we intensely discuss the Jersey Shore, New Orleans, iPhone games (and games games), business school, Pokemon (????), and more LP forum lore. Still working on that whole "structure" thing, but at least we keep it all spoiler free this time! I feel we should reiterate that we still have no idea what we're doing or why.

ReplyDeleteanother good one. it's enjoyable hearing you guys just talk random crap.
ReplyDeleteI am loving these podcasts.
ReplyDeleteYou don't even have to be drunk to enjoy that Pokemon episode. Even completely sober it's a hilarious 20 minutes.
ReplyDeleteYo you need a Sonic expert next time hit me up bros.
ReplyDeleteOr Cybershell, he's probably more credible.
Top scores for you two again. Look forward to maybe when you have a mailbag episode. There are some questions I've always had about Retsu lore that I haven't been able to ascertain.
ReplyDeletealso you should really get chip and/or ironicus, even if its for one episode.
ReplyDeleteSonic was weird. Since Sonic was "edgy," he tended to get all kinds of super-serious-yet-not-self-aware comics and TV shows. These shows and comics would introduce lots of new characters and try to make Sonic and his hideously-drawn new friends into these serious characters. The problem is that Neil Gaiman doesn't want to write Sonic comics, so not only were these laughably awkward serious storylines, they were heinously written. This led to the worst catalyst in the mixture: Sonic fans. Believe it or not, Sonic comics sell really, really well, even to this day. When you have shit comics that are really popular, you just get stuck in that rut of crap, and it can only get worse from there.
ReplyDeleteThis lead to Sonic games being created for the Sonic cultists, starting with the "okayish" Sonic Adventure games that were still kind of fun, devolving into Sonic 2006, which was more fanservice than game. If you've noticed, recent Sonic games have gotten better as they have taken on more Saturday Morning Cartoon vibes (Sonic Colors) or straight-up, self-aware parody (Sonic Generations), leaving fan-service behind for light-hearted fun, which is why we loved Sonic in the first place.
I don't get why people even lp Pokemon. When I play Pokemon I just try to get through the game as fast as possible so I can start training and lvling pokemon so then i can finally start playing other people in a competitive sense. (Which honestly not even that is fun anymore because the latest games broke the balance so bad) As for sonic.... I liked old sonic I liked the first 2 sonic adventure games then sonic just sucked. As for why the community is wierd... furries? would be my guess.
ReplyDeleteAlso I'm curious what these forums your on are. Do they still exist? Are you still active in them? I only know you guys through your youtube. Also there's good let's plays out there?
ReplyDeleteIf you're wondering why they keep on bringing up Something Awful, it's because that's the name of the website and forums where they post and where most of this Let's Play business goes down. Something Awful's website is at http://somethingawful.com/ and the forums are at http://forums.somethingawful.com/
DeleteThese are great, I love hearing all this background on SA and stuff. Oh and when you're thinking back to those old LPs guys just remember the words of wisdom; "don't RP the LP."
ReplyDeleteAwesome podcast guys, great way to kill an hour at work. All those old LP stories really bring me back.
ReplyDeleteIntro!
ReplyDeleteDammit, you got me hooked to Breaking Bad
ReplyDeleteI'll send an SOS to Retsutalk.
